Sweet New Addition

I was excited to work with this darling family again. And even more excited because they have a new addition, a sweet 7 day old baby boy. He was just as perfect as they come, beautiful blond hair and dreamy smooth skin. He was the best baby too, I did not hear him cry one time. Hopefully he stays that way for his mommy and daddy.

He also has a big brother and sister who are just in love with him. They are the easiest kids to photograph. I am not kidding, so laid back about it...plus they are gorgeous and extremely comfortable in front of the camera.

Take a look at one of my all time favorite newborn shoots :)

Thank you guys 100 times over. I know how hectic those first few days are and especially
with two other kiddos at home. Thank you for sharing your sweet new baby with me...he is
beyond perfect! I can't wait to do this again in the future!
Enjoy him :)
Blessings,
Lisa

I *Heart* this Family

Anytime that I get the chance to photograph my friends families...I love it. Well honestly, first I feel like I am going to throw up I am so nervous...but once we get going, I am fine and I LOVE every second of it. It is funny, I really don't get nervous anymore before a shoot. But it never fails, put a family I know in front of my lens and I am sweating bullets. :)

I am sooooo glad this darling family decided to have me take their family pictures this year. I have known them...well 5 years now. My middle daughter Emily and their oldest Aisley started out in school together, they live in my neighborhood. But even better is that I have been Aisley's Girl Scout Leader for years now. They are a fantastic family and I loved getting to watch them and their interactions from behind my lens.

Melissa & Jim....you sure make some beautiful children!

I have said this before, I love taking a few moments and getting a couple shots of just mom and dad. You know how it is, after you have kids you never take pictures of just the two of you.
These guys are adorable....and the still got "it" :)

One of my favorites of the day....

These boys had me on my toes....I thought about going home and taking a nap afterwards :)

Love!!

Ok, so at every shoot there are usually some kind of "outtakes". But these are by FAR the best outtakes E-V-E-R. I was cracking up editing these and had to share. #1 They are just so darn funny....#2 Melissa and Jim have an awesome sense of humor and I know they will get a kick out of them. Oh, and I included them on your CD guys :)

Ok, LOVE Jim's expression as he anticipates what is coming next. lol!

Melissa is still smiling her dazzling smile....Aisley I believe just took a foot to the head and Jim is looking at me like "Really, you thought this was a good idea??"

Melissa....still gorgeously smiling...but she is looking at him like "If you kick me, you will pay big time mister" :)

Yep, Melissa took a finger to the eye...still smiling though :) I love her!!

I had a BLAST with you guys, even got my work out in for the day :)
Oh, and thanks Jim for your super human strength as you pushed my car from it's
parking spot so that you could jump my dead battery. As I have said before "Thank God
I was with you guys" :)
I hope this make you smile as much as they did for me. Hope to do it again
sometime!!

Sweet Baby Girl

I love capturing families and watching the family dynamics between parents, kids, siblings. But I have to say I REALLY love capturing brand new families. There is just so much magic in those first months when you go from a couple to a family.

This family was a perfect example of this....they are totally and completely in love with their sweet baby girl and it was an honor to capture this special time and freeze it for them forever with my camera :)
This little sweetie had kind of a rough start by coming 3 months early, but she is just perfectly healthy and perfectly loved by her mommy and daddy.

Here are a few of my favorites of our time together.....

I will say, she is destined to have some beautiful blue eyes....she has parents with beautiful blues :) I had to of course talk about her amazing hair, it looks like she has highlights...so very "baby" hip. haha.
And I LOVE her sweet little expression in this one....

I posted this image on my Facebook Fan page and people went crazy! I think if I had a cutest baby contest on there...she would win hands down :)

She was giving us big laughs and kicking her legs...gosh I LOVE babies. I also love that I am able to bring out this quilt for some of my sessions. It was made by my Grandmother and I know she is smiling down from Heaven loving all the love it is getting. She might also be saying "Do NOT get any grass stains on it" :) I need to be more careful about my no shoes rule.....

Ok, I am going to quit rambling and let you enjoy the rest of these sweet little moments. But one more thing, here she is in her pink bow that she has worn since she was born. When she was first born and so very tiny it was as big as her head. I really enjoyed hearing stories like this and also that they try to take a picture of her in her pink bow every month to document her growth. I am glad they brought it along for our session.

This picture stuff is hard work...

It was such a pleasure to meet you guys and work with you. I know personally how
incredibly fast the first year goes and I am so happy to give you something tangible to
to look back on in the future at what a special time this is in your lives.
Enjoy every moment with her!! She is a doll baby!
Best,
Lisa

It's all about the LIGHT.......

Soooo....I was in Branson a month or so ago for a very quick little family vacation. While I was there, I did some multi-tasking and I took my niece's 6 month pictures (see the post below). I had absolutely no plans to do anything else besides Clara's 6 months shoot. But I will tell you every time I walked past this hallway corridor at the Hotel, I had to stop and take in this beautiful light. I had 3 adorable girls who were dying to ride themselves a luggage rack...so this mini shoot was born.

The purpose of posting this is so many people out there get so wrapped up in location. They want park like settings (I am personally a fan of urban) and I understand the need or desire for green grass or flowery back grounds. But at the end of the day the people are who make the pictures, not the green grass. What is even more important is light, I can shoot anywhere...just give me beautiful light. The light at certain times of the day makes such a huge impact on the quality and look of your images. A mid day shoot in shade will work, but nothing compares to the "golden hour" of light. These images were taken about 6:30 at a Hotel corridor and they are some of my favorite images...the individuals of the girls are simply gorgeous and you are drawn to the subject, not the fact that they are leaning against a grey stone wall of a hotel.

So my soap box for the day is to "think outside of the box"...be daring with your locations, trust your photographer when they suggest something different. And most of all....get out there and capture some images at that golden hour and you won't be disappointed. :)

Lots of Family Love

I love multi-generational shoots. Don't get me wrong, they are the "easiest" shoots...but to me they are one of the most special. Capturing pictures like these are so very important...life shoots by us and we have those moments were we think..."if only I had more photos". So with out sounding too "soap boxy"...get out there and get your pictures taken...with your spouse, with your kids, with your parents.

I adored spending time with this family...I have worked with Stephanie before (pretty blond on the right) and her 2 adorable sons have been in front of my camera a few times (lucky me!). So when I heard from Stephanie's sister in law Jen to set up this extended family shoot...I was thrilled. I knew I would like Jen just from chatting with her via email and talking to her on the first day we got rained out. She is super nice and has a beautiful little family herself. The day we met for these pictures it was her birthday!

I love the color scheme they picked...blue, yellow and white..one of my favorite combos.

Stephanie and her beautiful family...

These boys are just the cutest!

Love this one! She was making us work for some smiles. I personally think she has the most precious "serious" face.

A little itty bitty smile :) But I think she is smiling with her eyes.

Every single person needs a photo like this of their parents.

This little guys is one of the easiest little boys I have ever photographed. Every time time he has been in front of my camera it is like second nature to him. He deserves a really cool "prize" the next time I see him :)

Blond hair brown eyed boys....melt my heart.

Thank you guys so much for spending your evening with me...and most of all
thank you for asking me to document your big beautiful family as it is right now.
I hope these bring you smiles for years to come. Jen, I hope you enjoyed your
hot dog dinner for your birthday! Great to finally meet you.
Hugs!
Lisa
