Winter Fun with a Favorite Family

I am sitting here trying to think of the perfect thing to say about this family that I adore so much, but I am hopped up on way too many cold meds....and my brain is in a permanent fog :)

So, I will keep it short and sweet. This BE-autiful family has been with me for a long time, almost back to the very beginning which I am more than grateful for. They also refer me more business than any other client and for that I am honored. They are not only beautiful but just really good people. One of the things I LOVE the most about this business is that I have met amazing families like this one, families I might not of ever had the pleasure of meeting otherwise.

We had big plan to take advantage of this unseasonably warm winter...but it was a bit cold when we met and misty. But we quickly came up with plan B and got what I think are my favorite pictures of them yet!!

These two have the best personalities....a complete dream to work with. And they are so sweet to each other....at least every time I am around :)

I LOVE winter light, it is so soft and perfect.....and I especially love sweet little girls who like to love on their mommas :)

My Favorite Girls

This time of year is when I try to get caught up on the editing of my personal photographs. I wish I had time to do it the other 9 months out of the year but it just never happens. This shoot is from this past late summer/early fall. Every year I do a shoot with my girls and my two niece's. My sister in law and I spend weeks planning what everyone is going to wear and where we are going to go. The sad thing is I only do this once a year, it really needs to happen in the Spring and in the Fall. My poor girls are hardly ever in front of my camera....something I want to change this year.

Here they are....my favorite girls in the whole world. I know I am a bit biased....but they are so beautiful!

My niece Kearsten. Kearsten is one of those kids that is just good at anything she does....soccer, dance..whatever she tries. Plus she is SUPER smart! I just love her and I love the incredibly close close relationship my girls have with her.

My trio (oh how I LOVE them!!)

My oldest Abby. Abby the animal lover with a heart of gold. When I tell people I have a 13 year old they usually say "Oh I am sorry" lol! Well, I am certainly not. She is a fantastic teenager and is the easiest child.....soooo blessed to be her mom.

My baby Riley. Oh help me sweet Jesus, this child is a spit fire. She doesn't let anyone push her around, she stands up for her friends and what she believes in. At the young age of 7, she is the first to come to the defense of someone she thinks is being wronged. Sometimes she just goes about it in the wrong way. She also makes us laugh all the time. The clown of the family, that is for sure.

My middle child. Emily...sweet sweet Emme Lou. She can be super stubborn but 95% of the time she is a people pleaser (like her mother). She wants to make sure I am happy with her, that her dad is happy with her. She wants to do the right thing. She fights to be seen and heard because...well, she is the middle child. But if I want someone to snuggle with...she will knock her sisters down on the way to climbing in my lap first. She is my sweet girl.

The whole beautiful group. Five granddaughters for my mom and dad....I think they are pretty darn lucky!

And Clara, the baby of the group. She is soooo cute I just want to squeeze her. She has lots of cousins and aunts and uncles....lots of love for this baby.

My girls have two favorite things when it is pictures time. #1 - making funny faces and #2 - jumping. They love the jumping in the air shots.

When life is crazy it is hard to remember to be thankful for the little things.

I am so thankful for these 5 beautiful girls in my life. What a strong force they

will be as they grow. I look forward to all the celebrations and the

awesome moments with them. Thank God for them!

Clara's 1 Year Shoot

My darling, beautiful, precious little niece is turning one in just a few short weeks (where does time go....seriously, where??). So we did her 1 year shoot at my house on a cold day. It was a family affair, with her big sister and cousins holding up make shift back drops. Her Daddy walking out of the room every 5 minutes because he can't stand to see her sitting in a chair because he is afraid she is going to fall (he is a bit paranoid....but it is sweet). But her Mommy worked her butt off, I was feeling like total crud and just really didn't have the energy to move chairs, stools, re-position Clara every 5 minutes. So her Mommy got to do all of that :) Love working with family...lol!

I LOVE what we got....but how can they not be beautiful photos, I mean look at this subject :)

So big!!!

Ok, I know poor Jess is probably so sick of hearing that her baby looks like her Daddy (my little brother) all the time. But this picture below literally gave me chills when I opened it. She is my brothers clone....I need to find a picture of him at her age and post them both. It is unbelievable!!

That is right baby girl, it's your birthday!!

I loved this cake! Jess and I had a vision in mind and Jess' good friend Kelly (owner of Kelly's Cakes and Cupcakes) totally rocked it out! That paired with my Grandma's vintage cake stand. Perfection!

Clara was so dainty about how she ate her cake. She never really "dug in". She would just grab a tiny pinch and eat it. She wasn't really diggin' having the icing on her fingers :) It will be interesting to see what she does at her birthday party.

Love you soooo much Clara Boo!! I can't believe your almost one....your first year flew by!

Look Back at 2011

When I began sorting images and picking my favorites from each and every session of 2011 I was filled with many emotions. Shock, disbelief, surprised, honored, in awe...exhausted :) I thought I would try to squeak out a "Top 100" I quickly learned I shot WAY over 100 sessions last year. Wow!!! To what was my busiest year ever. I have mixed feelings as on one hand I am so proud of what I was able to accomplish while working a full time job and being a mother and wife. On the other hand I don't know that I will ever take on this much again, but many of you know I have a hard time saying NO :)

To the 135+ families, couples and High School Seniors that I had the pleasure to work with this year..Thank You, Thank You and Thank You!!! I am very very grateful for your business and your trust. I would not be where I am with out my amazing fantastically awesome clients who spread my name like wildfire. You all rock!! xoxo

6 Months of Smiles

It has been the month of meeting up with my adorable one year clients. I can't believe this little guy is 6 months old...6 MONTHS...where does the time go?? He is just getting so handsome and his personality...so fun! I laughed a lot while taking his pictures. His awesome Aunt came out to help us get some great smiles and I am happy to say it worked!

3 Months of Sweetness

Love Love Love my 1st year clients. I love babies, and what an awesome job to get to document the big milestone's of sweet little ones first years. I get pretty attached to my 1st year babies...and this little sweetie is no exception. She was a complete angel at her newborn shoot....and at 3 months, yep...pretty darn perfect. 3 months for me is the hardest age to shoot, they usually don't do much at this age and smiles are sometimes hard to come by. Well, this sweetie proved me way wrong....smiles....tummy time...exploring her hands, she was a treat to "shoot".

She was pretty sleepy when she first arrived, and took a little snooze in my basket. LOVE this outfit, I ooohhhed and aahhhed over it quite a bit.

Mommy & Daddy trying to coax her awake. This is the easiest family to get those "real life moments of" they photograph so beautifully together.

Yep, she is awake and happy as can be! See what I mean, a complete dream boat of a baby.

I am so glad I was able to get a good shot of her eyelashes. Holy Moly, they are sooo long. Lucky girl :) Usually it is the boys with the long eyelashes.

I LOVE these next set of pictures. She was all about putting her hands in her mouth...but I LOVE it. It warms my heart. Having experienced all the little things they do that don't last long...I know this is an exciting new discovery for her and it will be one that is short lived. So fun to capture how much she enjoys those hands :)

I did zero touch up to her eyes...just some amazingly reflective beautiful blues!

Clara - 9 months

If you follow me at all on here or Facebook, then you know I have the cutest baby niece who I just adore. I am loving the chance to capture her first year! Something I wasn't able to do with my own girls because I wasn't a Photographer quite yet. So Clara gets to put up with me taking her picture every 3 months. Because of my insanely crazy Fall schedule...we had to sneak her 9 month shoot in on Thanksgiving. Lucky for us we had pretty mild weather and my Aunt and Uncles house served as the perfect spot (after stuffing ourselves with Turkey. ha ha).

Get ready to be mesmerized by the cutest little blond hair blue eyed girl around!

How about that darling turkey shirt...love that Jess ordered that and that I was able to get some pictures of her in it.

She was doing this thing with her lip were she sucks in her bottom lip. In editing these pictures I noticed she is doing it in almost every single one. She doesn't do this as much...so I am happy I was able to capture it so much. Babies grow so fast and the lip suck thing is just a little bleep on her life's big picture. One of the little things my brother and sister in law might forget in 15 years that she even did it at all...the beauty of pictures :)

We cheered "Yeah Clara"...and she of course had to clap for herself :)

Don't you just want to squeeze her?? I know I do.

Then my Aunt brought out a very old rocking horse, she was able to do it on her own for a few seconds.

But she was much happier holding on to mom's hand. My biggest smile I got out of her for the day.

Your Aunt Lisa LOVES you sooo much! Being your and Kearsten's Aunt is the 2nd best

thing to being a mommy. I can't believe your going to be 1 in just a few weeks. Where does

the time go!?!

Baby Sweetness to End the Year

I was a lucky girl, I got to spend my last afternoon of 2011 photographing this new beauty! She was about 3 weeks old when I met her and just the cutest thing. And oh my, such a good baby!

I love watching new parents, especially first time parents with their babies. The love just oozes out of them :)

From a couple to a family...love it!

She had an extra special visitor that I was glad I was able to meet too. Her Grandfather was visiting her from England. Here she is holding his finger....I am in awe of the size difference. LOVE this one.

A little tribute to her Daddy :) Her mommy's co-workers gave her some of the neatest gifts. Including the outfit above with matching doll.

The most perfect feet, this is one of my favorite newborn feet shots. She could be a foot model :)

A Rising Star

I have had the pleasure of "shooting" this young lady before. We met for some "head shots" last summer and I enjoyed my time with her. She is such a sweet heart, the same age as my Abby :) Things have gone well for her in her in her quest for modeling.

She has changed a lot since this summer and has learned what the Industry is looking for, so we met up for "round two" of head shots. She had a fabulous Make Up Artist do her make up (Hi Frenchie!).

I had so much fun with directing her into poses, she really can work a camera and didn't need much direction. Gorgeous girl!!

Your a shining star and I know you will go far! Please

Lauren - Class of 2012

Ok, get ready for lots of "gushing" about how amazing beautiful Miss Lauren is...and her equally beautiful mom Sharon. Lauren came to me through my favorite client Andrea (thanks girl!!). I was really looking forward to this session because Lauren is an Artist, and you know...I love Art in all forms :) I loved that we were going to incorporate some of her work into her session. I loved chatting with her mom Sharon leading up to the session, by far one of the nicest clients I have ever worked with. I just knew the day was going to be great. And it was! Boy was it windy, like really REALLY windy...but we made it work and Lauren was a natural in front of the camera.

I really enjoyed my time on Main Street St. Charles with these ladies and was a bit sad when the session ended because I was enjoying their company so much. I almost suggested going for a cup of coffee...or some shoe shopping ;)

I have to say a HUGE thank you to Lauren and Sharon for being so incredibly patient waiting for their pictures. I took these back in October, but Sharon knew how seriously crazy my Fall was and since Lauren is not graduating until the Spring...she said these magical words "Take your time with editing". It was like the clouds parted and the angel's sang...a little over the top with my description, but it was seriously such a blessing. And the best part was saving the editing to my slower season when I could really spend a lot of quality time processing these images. Thank you ladies! You are beyond AWESOME!

Santa, Cakeballs and Some Improv

Today was a wonderful day, I even got to take a nap. LOVE this time of year. I was honestly on the fence about if I was going to bring my camera today for all our fun festive things we had planned. Ever since I finished my last session of the year...I haven't even wanted to look at it. This Fall has caused major burn out for me. There are times I walk pass my camera and I think about kicking it....for real. But what I have discovered as I sift through some of my personal images of the year. I photographed my own family barely a dozen times this year. And that is really sad, quite pathetic honestly. I feel privileged to do what I do, and I think I do it well...most of the time. And to not capture magical moments of my own kids because I am too tired and just plain don't want to pick up my camera "again". It really makes me so very sad. So I packed her up and we headed out and I captured every little moment big and small of the day. I am so glad I did, I love photography..like LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It gives me the ability to take a most perfect day like today and freeze it forever.

So here we are...the Sexton/Scherer cousins going to visit Santa. This is Clara's first Christmas and we weren't sure how she would do sitting on the big guys lap, but no tears. I don't think she was thrilled, but she didn't cry either. :)

This is all I got of the group....good thing there was a "professional" there. wink wink :)

Then we decided we would get one of just Clara and Santa...but Emily had one more thing to ask for. Look at Santa's face...awesome!

Bass Pro is the best, if you can handle the crowds...because it gets crazy crowded. They have so much for the kids to do...the girls couldn't wait for their turn with the remote control cars.

I wanna be a cowboy...so you can be my cowgirl. What song is that from? Yippee Yippee Yooo...Yippee Yoo Yoo Yoo. Hmmm....

Then we headed off to my brother's house for some yummy lunch (thanks for the awesome vegetable soup Jess) and cakeballs making....

Our first shot at making cakeballs...it was fun, but a bit messy.

While we were making cakeballs, the boys were watching football and doing a little napping....

I love this girl....that's it...just had to say that.

One thing that the girls love to do is put on performances for us. Abby is in Drama at middle school and she had the idea that the girls did some Improv's....they were cute and quite funny.

I love my family and I love having extra time to spend with them.

This time of year is so good for my soul, my creativity and it will

get my love affair with my camera back into full swing by Spring. :)

Chanel & Chris

Going out with a bang :) Chris & Chanel were my very last session of 2012...and what a great way to end my year! They are from Texas and wanted some wintry Christmas photos in St. Louis...that had a very St. Louis feel to them. They are going to be traveling back to Texas for Christmas and wanted to have some fun photos of them in their current "home town".

We had a great time exploring some of my favorite spots downtown. I really enjoyed chatting with them as we explored....we talked about the wonderful job market in St. Louis (this is honestly quite depressing), about the differences between St. Louis and Texas and what they like best about "the Lou".

I am so glad they contacted me and I was able to end my year on such a high note.

Yep, LOVE Chanel's boots. I have a bit of a boot addiction....I dream about living some place where it is acceptable to wear them year round :)

Keiner Plaza looked so pretty with the Macy's tree of lights.

Family Fun at The Jewel Box keeps on rockin'

I can't even say how thankful I am for The Jewel Box and their willingness to work with Photographers. It has seriously saved my neck on many occasions this Fall/Winter.

Up next is a GORGEOUS new client family of mine and they complimented the beauty of The Jewel Box just perfectly. :) I had been working with families with small kids up until the arrived...so it was fun to have some older kiddos to work with and even better that they LOVED being on the other end of the camera. They were all so easy to work with and made my job a breeze :)

Love this one! It is tough finding a very neutral back drop here, but I think we figured out some options :)

It was so nice to meet you guys, I am so glad I was able to get

you into my crazy Fall schedule :) Your girls are so beautiful and sweet as can be!

18 Months and Growing up Fast!

How is little Lanie 18 months already! It seems like I was just finishing up her first year of shoots just yesterday. She is so stinkin' cute...running around every where and she is so petite she doesn't look old enough to be walking yet. She was very interested in the Christmas tree at The Jewel Box and holding a little gold ornament was the thing that made her happy. So the gold ball ornament made an appearance in most of the pictures....I think it is cute, and so her. And "Tis' the Season, right" :)

I think she was contemplating putting it back on the tree, or maybe thinking about grabbing another :)

Just the Nicest!

This family was seriously the nicest! I LOVE when I meet new clients and they seem to be the perfect fit for me...makes me super happy :) The kids...of course as you can see, adorable! But they were so well behave...the newest family member was so content. His big brother and sister clearly love him...and they were so easy to work with, they actually seemed to be excited about having their pictures taken.

I have to say a big thank you to one of my other fabulous clients Lori for sending me this awesome little family. And thank you to Maghan for being so understanding when it came to my schedule fiasco. I double booked Maghan's session time. Yep, not my shining moment as a Photographer. And it actually happened twice this Fall. It means two things...I need to cut back next year AND maybe look into hiring some kind of office helper. The Super Woman cape I have been wearing is looking pretty darn battered.

But Maghan was incredibly understanding (which helped with my feelings of wanting to beat myself up. lol!) And I was able to get her in on the same day but a bit later time.

Anywho....here they are! Just as beautiful as they are nice.......

Big yawns! Love this!

These images were some of my favorites of the day. I love them...and look at his arm around his sister, he did that on his own..I didn't even ask him. Love that! Such sweet kids.

Fabulous Five

I love my "repeaters" :) I had such a great time with this sweet family last year, I had my fingers and toes crossed that they would come back this year. And they did...Yeah!!

The kiddos have grown so much and are just as gorgeous as before :)

Right before I got there, their little one took a nasty spell and scraped up her little knuckles really bad. I felt so horrible for her, I know how much those types of scrapes burn. It took her a little bit to start feeling better, but I really love what I was able to get of them as a family.

I adore her freckles :) She reminds me so much of my Emily...they are the same age, I think they would be buds if they were to ever meet.

And the handsome guy with the beautiful eyes :)

Feeling a bit better....and giving me some smiles. She is so darn pretty!

It was so great to see you guys again! Thank you for

being your awesome selves...as usual!

A Growing Family

I still can't believe this family has twins. I go way back with the momma of these three little beauties. Her younger brother and my little bro are best friends and have been since they were in elementary school. So to see her as a mom, especially to twins....it is pretty awesome! They are great parents and I think they are handling the 3 kids under the age of 3 thing pretty darn well :)

I am so glad she contacted me for photos....I was a bit nervous. Three little ones does that to me sometimes :) But our shoot was awesome! The babies are so sweet and have the most adoring big sister.

9 Months of Cuteness

Oh my, is it 9 months already. Ok, this little guy needs to quit growing up so fast on me. We are getting way to close to the end of his 1st year package and it makes me sad :(

He is the cutest little guy....if I ever had a baby boy, I would want to figure out a way to order up his clone. lol!

Yea, his mommy has the cutest ideas and brings the best props. His wonderful Aunt (hi Lisa!) got him this cute shirt. "I ate Santa's cookies" too cute!

Urban Christmas

I am CR-azy about this shoot! It is in my top 5 favorites ever! I knew it was going to be good, because this little family is darling with a capital D and so easy to photograph. I have my creative mojo going strong when I work with them....what can I say, they bring out the best in me :)

I loved that they wanted an urban Christmas-y feel to their pictures and I think we nailed it. We headed to downtown Webster Groves since it is the city they call home. :)

And this little cutie is going to be a big brother :)

Umm...yeah, one of my favorite images ever! EVER.

He is the most animated little guy....and on the go. But he is fun to chase around :)

I love how much they love each other. :) And that new little baby girl....she is being born into one awesome family.

We headed back home for some time in front of the Christmas tree, and reading some Christmas books and of course...we had to end it with a little swing time.

You guys are so awesome! Thank you for the wonderful

ideas you brought to the shoot. For being flexible to some fun urban locations

and for just being your darling selves. Oh, and a BIG thank you for all the

Three Little Cuties!

Then there were three :) This little cutie directly below...she has gotten soooo big. The last time I photographed her she was about 9 months old. Now she is 2 and just as beautiful as ever. And she is a Big Sister!!! Not once, but twice....she has a new baby brother and sister.

I told her parents that they were the perfect parents for twins...they are so kind, patient and calm. Me...I would be a crazy person :)

I enjoyed my time with this beautiful family and watching them in their new family dynamics. It was great to see them again and meet the new family members.

See, look at that smile...being a big sister suits her well.

And her new little sister. I love how it looks like she is studying me very closely.

And her new little brother, he has that same look. Like, what is that big black thing you keep putting in front of your face??

The babies were sleepy and our time together was short...but I love what I was able to capture in that time. Then, I got to spend some time with just the big girl in the family.

We did things like, admired her amazing art gallery.....

Read a story......

And, we can't forget...listened to the shape song on Mommy's I-Phone :) Technology is awesome!

We are Family :)

This is my sister in law Jess and her wonderful family. I am so glad my brother has such awesome in-laws...they are great people who have welcomed Shawn and my neice Kearsten into their family with open arms. They are just really great people.

And I have been waiting a long time to do this shoot....I have take pictures of a few of them here and there...(Taylor...Nick's Senior pics) but I have been holding out hope that one day I could photograph them as a group. I am so glad it happened and I am LOVING what we got...such a beautiful family!

And my brother Shawn...he is the best little brother ever :) I don't tell him that enough...LOVE LOVE LOVE (a million times more) this family!

The proud Grandparents...how could they not be proud, look at these kids!

This is one of my favorites of the day. Patsy & Preston sure do have some gorgeous daughters. Having 3 girls of my own...this makes me excited to think of the future with them as grown woman.

Ok, I think they felt really silly doing this. But we do this a TON with bridal parties and they always turn out as the best pictures. I thought what the heck...let's try it. I think it turned out great...I can't look at it without smiling :)

And I really love this one! Probably my personal favorite family shot of the day.

Something a Little Different

This session was different for me, everyone that follows my blog knows I am a natural light Photographer. I don't like to break out my flash except at receptions :)

But sometimes this time of year and cold weather pushes us indoors. :) With a very full schedule there is not room for rescheduling. So we rolled with it and I shot the entire shoot with flash. In the end, I feel like it is good to work outside your comfort zone...I love what I got of this sweet little family of 3.

Thank you guys for welcoming me into your home...your new little family member was soooo good and fun to photograph!

LOVE this...my favorite of our time together. I turned off the flash and just captured the magic of her glow of the Christmas lights and the wonder in her sweet face.

And she was out like a light :)

Sisters & Family

I have to start by saying how incredibly awesome these clients are! I have had the busiest Fall ever...like loosing my mind busy. So the night before their shoot I pulled out all my memory cards for a complete clearing....and, do you know where I am going with this. Yep, forgot to put them back in my camera bag. That is what happens when you are functioning on 4 hours of sleep at night :) So I had to make a trip to Best Buy and buy the only compact card they carry.

They were soooo incredibly cool and patient, it delayed the start of our shoot by an hour. Thank you guys soooo much for being so incredibly kind. Your the best.

We had a cold and rainy day...with wind. Every Photographer's dream...right? :)

But again....awesome awesome peeps. The kids never complained once and we had a great time...well, at least I know I had a great time! Awesome parents, Aunt & Uncle to be....and gorgeous well behaved kids. That made for the best day!

Does this beautiful family look familiar....yeah...they have been "blogged" before :) Brandi...thanks for contacting me again. I was so happy to see you guys again this Fall :)

This gorgeous couple is engaged...I had to drop a few "you know I am a Wedding Photographer" during our shoot :) No shame to my game. haha!

We took about 15 minutes and shot some of just them...on a front porch of a display home in the rain. And I LOVE them! I am hoping Kelly & I get the chance to shoot a real engagement shoot with these two...because if they rocked the camera like this in 15 minutes...I can't even imagine how awesome it will be with an hour or so :)

Love Me Some Mini's :)

Grab a comfy chair and settle in for a big ole' post of some fabulous mini-sessions. This was my first year of mini's....I LOVE them. I hope to do them a few times through-out the year next year and I hope I can get more clients interested in them.

Up first, one of my very favorite families to photograph. They have been coming to me loyally for years and for that I just adore them. I love that their kids are comfortable with me, I love watching them grow. I just love my time with them once or twice a year.

And how cute are they! :) Some cute cute kids.

I thought it was so great that she wanted to take a picture of me taking her picture...a girl after my own heart :)

Up next, this beautiful family was sent to me via my sister in law Jess (yes Jess rocks...for so many reasons and sending me wonderful clients is one of them). I was smiling ear to ear when these little cuties climbed out of the car. And they were sooo natural in front of the camera and very easy to get smiles from. Love it!!

I will end with a fun session of friends. I thought it was an awesome idea when Cassie (third to the right) suggested a girl session. I had the BEST time...we laughed so hard and I was happy that they went with all my suggestions on posing but threw in a ton of their own personality. The time flew on this one because I was having so much fun. It also made me want a shoot of my own like this, friendships are so very important but who really stops and takes photos....especially good photos with their friends. It is on my list of things to do in 2012...just need to figure out the logistics :)

Tyler - Class 2012

Here is another awesome Senior that I had the pleasure to work with. Tyler is a Senior at Pattonville High School, he is a soccer stud (my words...not his...haha!). So we thought it would be cool to meet at the soccer fields at Pattonville to start our shoot.

We had a super sunny day, but I like that we used it to our advantage from some super cool artsy shadows....fun stuff :)

Ann (aka Mom) suggested some pictures in the dugout and pointed out these cubes...that I am guessing hold equipment. I loved that she saw exactly what I was thinking....great texture. LOVE how it turned out!

A quick outfit change and we headed to Creve Coeur Lake and some setting sun pictures.

Tyler's Grandfather worked for the Highway Department...so we wanted to get the Page Extension Bridge in the background...a project he worked on.

6 Months of Sweetness

Man oh man, do I have the cutest baby clients...EVER! I am one lucky Photog, I tell you what.

Little Miss Maria is so stinkin cute and her little personality has just exploded over the last 3 months since I saw her last. She was full of smiles during our shoot and just the happiest little thing. She loved sitting in the leaves...and also occasionally trying to eat one :)

LOVE the shirt her mommy had for her...so cute! And so true, I remember the bow headbands were just becoming big when my girls were babies...I miss those darling bows.

Busy Happy Family

This little family reminds me so much of my own. I know what it is like to have 3 young children (mine aren't as young anymore...but I survived it...haha!). It is fun, crazy...stressful at times. But families of 5 are so awesome...I love that it isn't a "small family" but yet it isn't "crazy big" either. It is just right. This family of 5 was so sweet...kids at such fun and spunky ages.

I really love what we were able to capture in a bit of a hurry...because we all know Fall...you loose light quickly! But it was the also gave us some beautiful golden light.

A Double Dose of Awesome Families!

Ok, I got 2 adorable families coming at ya right now :)

First, I am going to start with a family that I just love! This is another awesome family that I have had to pleasure of getting to know because of my girls school. Two of their 3 girls are in the same grade and are good buddies with my Emily and Riley. They are the sweetest people! Holly (aka Mom) is the kind of Mom I strive to be. She is always so patient, and so dedicated to her children. She is an amazing cook and she is now a Food Blogger (yeah Holly!). I have had the honor of photographing their family a few times now. I absolutely love it and I am in LOVE at what we got this Fall. One of my favorite shoots ever!

How can you not love pictures that feature this little cutie! The only boy of the family and he is sooooo darn cute!!

Love these girls! So many beautiful blond kids in one family.

And of course they are gorgeous kids, look at their parents :)

Ok, favorite sibling picture...probably ever! I don't' know what it is about this picture but I absolutely love it!

Up next is one of my favorite client families. I so enjoy working with them because it is just easy. They totally get the "Life Style" photography thing and they let me just do my thing. Which is to capture their family as they are...being who they are.

This session was very important because they had Grandparents visiting from South Africa. They have not been here to visit since little Oliver was a baby. It was great to see them again (I was lucky enough to photograph them together at their last trip).

This time we took a walk through the woods of their neighborhood and I enjoyed every second.

How I love parents that are in love. They are so nice and you can tell they clearly love every second with their grand kids.

Let's Celebrate! Kayleigh is One!

Ahh, one year old shoots are the BEST! I love this age and I love how their little personalities have just exploded. They are still a baby but working their way into "Toddler-hood". I really love it when my one year clients get their little cuties cakes. They are some of my favorite pictures of the whole shoot.

Sweet sweet Baby

This is another sweet baby that I get the pleasure of documenting all the amazing milestones of her first year. I LOVE my "One Year" package clients, what is better than watching sweet little babies grow during the first year. And boy do they grow....at like lighting fast speeds. I am sure this little one already looks huge to her mommy and daddy compared to these pictures.

I loved my time with her and her parents, they are completely smitten and how could they not be. Isn't she beautiful! She was the best baby....wide awake and taking it all in, then she conked out at the end. A perfect session.

Kim's Family is Up....

I gotta tell you, I was so nervous for this shoot. You see Kim is also a Photographer and the amazing talent behind KSNeff Photography. Photographing other Photographers really makes you bring your A Game :) Of course it was awesome...because Kimmie is awesome. Her hubby Andy is awesome...liked him immediately. And they make some gorgeous kiddos :)

Kim is a HUGE help to Kelly and I in our Wedding business. She comes along as a 3rd shooter to our very large Weddings....she also works our "out of the box" Photobooth (more on that coming soon). She also fills in when one of us is unable to be there. We don't know what we would do without her. We look forward to working with her a lot more in 2012.

Ok....here is a glimpse at some of my favorites during our shoot. The best part...was going to dinner with them afterwards! So enjoyed ending our shoot over some good Greek food :)

Keeping it in the Family

Even though these two families had their pictures taken about a week apart. I figured I had to blog them together...you see Mom in family #1 is cousins with Dad in family #2. So why not put all of these gorgeous genes on one blog post :)

Up first, my very favorite family of 6! I love that I get to capture this family year after year...not only are the beautiful but they are just really good people. Mom Sharon is the sister to my hubby's BFF. I remember back to the day when there was just little Carson....now they almost have their own Basketball team :)

They ALWAYS show up looking like a million bucks, Sharon spends a lot of time planning out the outfits and they never disappoint. This years color combo was probably my favorite of theirs.

LOVE this leaf picture. I had this envisioned in my mind and it turned out even better than I was envisioning. I love when that happens....and it doesn't happen very often. haha!

Up next....a darling family of 3. I also know these three as more than clients...with the whole family relationship thing. I was really glad I heard from them again this year. They have the cutest little guy whom my camera just loves! Plus, I usually get a pretty good workout when I take their pictures... :)

They were such troopers....we got rained on hard right in the middle of our shoot. They took it in stride and happily followed me to a covered area. Love flexible families!!

And what do you do when it rains....catch the raindrops of course :)

Hooray for Adorable Boys!

When mom Heather called me to take some pictures of her boys, I was ecstatic! I LOVED working with this family last year. Laid back Dad, 2 DARLING little boys and Heather....Heather is my kind of people, she is funny...super nice and so easy to talk to. She has also sent me some referrals, which makes me love her even more :)

The boys have gotten so big in a year and they are just as beautiful as ever! We had fun with this session at their house, on the boys home turf. It was a perfect mix of candid or "life style" with a few posed shots thrown in.

Mr. Serious, but I think he has the cutest serious face :)

Heather has great taste...and always picks out the cutest things for her boys to wear. Love the hats!

Nicholas - Class of 2012

Nicholas came to me through the Tojo Family (thanks Tojo's!!). If I were to find one word to describe Nicholas...well besides the obvious (Gorgeous...am I right ladies!?). Well the one other word would be nice. He is so nice, so easy to work with. I am not going to lie, Senior boys scare me a little bit. You never know what your going to get. With Senior girls 99.9% of the time they are thrilled to be there and are excited to have their pictures taken. With Senior boys it is a 50/50 shot. I have been incredibly lucky this year and I have worked with the most awesome guys. Nicholas' shoot is going down as my favorite and he has set the bar pretty high :)

He picked this location....which I LOVED by the way, I spent a good part of my youth at this same spot. I even jumped off the train bridge behind him into the lovely ole' Meramec River a few times. (Kids DO NOT try that yourself!)ha ha. But what endeared me to Nicholas is after he picked the spot he let me call the shots. I had him climbing into waist high weeds, walking through mud, climbing into the forest. And he did it all with a smile on his face. He needed very little direction and seriously, I think he could have a modeling contract in the future.

Ok...one more thing....does he not look like a young (blonder) John F Kennedy Jr? I kept thinking that as I edited these.

I don't have a son. But I always imagined that watching your little boy grow into a man has to be such an amazing and proud moment. A bit different than when your girls grow. I know Nicholas' parents are so proud of him. His mom, by the way, AWESOME....loved chatting with her during our shoot.

Yep, JFK Jr.....right there...see it??

Gift that Keeps on Giving

This gorgeous family came to me via a "Gift Certificate". Mom's good friend Chris is one of my wonderful repeat clients (Hi Chris!!). Chris bought this gift certificate for a family shoot in honor of the birth of their new baby. I love when people give the gift of pictures...it truly is the type of gift that keeps on giving :)

We met up in their stomping grounds...New Town. Which happens to be one of my favorite places to shoot.

Fun with Twins

I was looking forward to "shooting" this family because I got the chance to work with TWINS! I haven't had many chances to do that...well not really young twins :) I have quite a few sets of twins in my family. Both my maternal Grandmother and Grandfather were twins and I have always been fascinated by the amazing bond twin siblings have.

Soooo.....on the day we were set to shoot it was WINDY...like really really windy. I personally find wind as challenging to work with as rain. But, I am always up for a challenge. I tried to keep them in areas that were blocking the wind...shot super fast when we had small breaks...."went with the flow". And you know what, I really love what we got. I had a super flexible family that even offered up their front porch at the end as a spot to get a break from the wind. It all worked out great.

Here they are looking darling and not a bit wind blown :)

I love this image below, to me this is a true glimpse at a family. I love capturing the "real moments".

We had to stay away from wide open places, which was a bit of a bummer because I had some spots in mind that we weren't able to visit. But I did get this one that I turned out awesome...a little wind in the hair can look good. :)

The front porch of their beautiful home made for the perfect spot to end our session. And by the way, how cute are these boys!! And their older sister is just gorgeous.

I Adore these Kids!!

I have so many things to say about this session. I am running on very little sleep and I am afraid I am going to get long winded and sappy :) So I am going to try my best to keep it short and sweet.

When my girls started school...wow, 8 years ago....I never in a million years would of thought I would also gain some amazing women as friends. The mom of these two beautiful kids is one of those people. I have what I call my Hanna Woods BFF's (Beth, Becky, Kitty...and Marci...even though she is a South Middle mom). These ladies bring so much to my lives...and I am blessed by their friendships.

Beth...gosh there are sooo many things I love about Beth. She is like my soul sister in a sense, we have so much in common. She is one of those girls I just clicked with immediately and knew that I loved. She is funny...I mean FUNNY and I love to laugh. She is a HUGE supporter of my Photography which isn't something I get from all of my friends. I know my friends old and new, respect what I do...but they don't always tell me that. And in this business hearing it is really important because there are 2 gazillion other Photographers who are just as awesome. Beth always has a kind word and encouragement...and it isn't like she is blowing sunshine up my "you know what". She is completely real and has amazing taste...so when she tells me how much she loves my work...it is like getting an A+++ on an assignment you worked your butt off on (little Teacher humor in there...Beth is a Teacher).

Ok, on with the beautiful children in these photos. Heidi is in the same grade as my Emily and they are friends (sooo thankful for that!). Heidi is just such an amazing girl, she is like an old soul to me...wiser than her years and so incredibly kind. Will is so stinkin' cute....he was sooo easy to work with and that is saying a lot for a 7 year old boy. I walked away from this shoot thinking to myself "those were two of the easiest kids I have ever "shot" "

I told you I would be long winded....that always happens when I am blogging people I care about.

Ok, I will shut my yap and let you take in these kiddos.....because between their beautiful eyes...and HOLY smokes eyelashes...the color, the umbrellas....even the rainy day...it was all perfect!

It rained up until about 10 minutes before we got out of the car. I am not going to lie, I was freaking out a bit. I knew how badly I wanted this to turn out perfect...but it did. We incorporated umbrellas when needed...found the best "natural reflectors" and the kids rocked it!

Yeah, all Beth's idea....I LOVE it!

Mallory - Class of 2012

To say that Mallory was a dream to work with would be a huge understatement. First, I have to thank her cousin Heather for sending her my way (love ya Heather!!). Heather had told me Mallory was a beautiful girl....boy she wasn't kidding. Beautiful, sweet, AMAZINGLY comfortable in front of the camera. Her mom was a blast to have along and the morning with these two flew by. I could honestly spend many many hours photographing this girl...she is a Photographers dream!

I love how we got a great mix of urban and "park", how her outfits totally fit her to a T. I love that she was excited to be there and I think she truly enjoyed every second of it...which makes my heart smile :)

Here she is...one of the amazing kiddos graduating in the Class of 2012.....

Mallory is going to Cosmetology school for part of her school day and I love that she wanted to incorporate both of her schools t-shirts. I know she will totally shine in this field and be a huge success!

Double Digits

Our Emily (aka middle child) is 10! She turned 10 the day before we left for our trip to Denver....so needless to say, I am blogging this late.

Ten...it seems so old, the whole double digit thing. I tell you, these baby girls are growing up way too fast for their momma's taste.

Emily (Emme Lou as we like to call her) is my sweet soul....she loves everyone, she is a bit of a people pleaser and tries to do that right thing. She is easily distracted (something that makes school tough for her) but with gentle reminders she tries to correct the issues she is having. We are so proud of her! As the middle child, I know she probably gets the short end of the stick sometimes. I LOVE doing one on one things with her...because she is very girly and loves to shop....just like her momma.

Here she is...looking so much younger than 10 to me.....oh how I LOVE this child!

Had to include one of her with her younger sister. They are the best of friends...thick as thieves...peas and carrots...you get the idea. Their relationship is the kind that I would dream of as a young girl when I wished often that I had a sister. I hope they are always this close and the best of friends. And I hope that their older sister Abby embraces this whole "sisterly love" thing sooner than later. But for now, I will be content to watch these two and their beautifully sweet relationship.

A side note, these two are 2 years and 10 months apart in age. I think Riley is going to pass her soon...they almost look the same age to me. Emily is our peanut :)

Oh how I love this family! If I were to give a gold medal to the family who has appeared on my blog the most...who is my most loyal clients...it would be them. I have loved watching these boys grow (and just get cuter and cuter) over the past years.

We try to come up with different locations for each shoot....and I try to keep the "posing" fresh. I LOVE where we went for this session...I love how it complimented their colors and I thought it fit them perfectly. I think this is one of my favorite sessions of theirs.

Blended Family = Double the Love!

This darling little family is a his, hers and ours. I love blended families, and the dynamics of this one was so special to watch. The kids are all so sweet to each other...the older sibs are CRAZY for their new baby brother. Alicia and Chris are crazy in love....and crazy in love with their little clan.

I mean, seriously...how cute are they!!

I love this one...represents how fun it is to have 4 small children :)

I vote Chris as the best "Step Dad" of the year!

Family Fun in the City

I know I ave said this many times before, but I LOVE urban locations for family sessions. It is just my personal favorite, so when a client agrees to urban or requests urban. I am dancing the "urban jig"....my creative side goes into over drive and I am counting the days until the shoot. It isn't that I don't love parks, St. Louis in my opinion has some of the most beautiful parks in all of the US of A. But downtown St. Louis with it's rich past and beautiful architecture.....swoon. :)

This adorable family of 3 hails from the City, they live it...love it and were more than willing to meet there for their shoot. We picked City Garden which is the perfect combo of park with a little urban flair :)

I had a great time with this trio...I really just followed their little spunky cutie pie around as she explored and did her thing. My favorite kind of shoot...life style, candid and exactly who they are as a family at this moment.

Baby Boys A Plenty....

I have been photographing lots of little boys, especially babies as of lately. I love it!! I love to see their cute little outfits and shoes and boy toys. My house is over-run with girl stuff. So it is nice to spend some time outside of my element :)

I was sooo happy to hear from this awesome family! It had been a couple years since I had them in front of my camera....and they were calling with BIG news! They had a new family member and they were now a family of 4. I couldn't wait to meet him.

Oh my, he was sooo darling! Gosh, I could of held him and played with him all day :)

Here he is with his handsome older brother.....brothers, they are good things to have in life :) I know that for sure!

I have to say he has the most perfect creamy skin. I didn't have to do much to it, usually I smooth little babies skin out because they have the typical newborn spots and marks. But his skin was like porcelain. And he photographed like a dream!

3 Months of Cuteness

Ahhh, I love my "One Year" clients. I love watching these sweet sweet babies grow over a course of a year and how their looks and personalities evolve.

3 months can be the toughest to capture. Most babies aren't sitting up, aren't crazy about being on their bellies and are usually pretty serious (I mean a lady with a big ole camera in your face can be pretty intimidating). But what I love is it gives me lots of opportunity to focus on their beautiful little faces and sweet expressions....they can't run away from me at this age :)

This little guy was studying me and really enjoying his morning outdoors. :) That was until we did something naughty (like sticking him in a basket with a pumpkin hat on his head...haha!)

I swear I feel like he is looking at us in this picture and thinking "really, your really going to make me do this?" haha! I love it! This is one for the slideshow at his wedding in 25 years. haha!

"B" Family,

I can't get over how fast 3 months went, and how adorable your little guy

is getting! I am super excited for his 6 months shoot and I know it will

be here before we know it.

+ 14 years of marriage =

14 years BABY!!! In this day and age is something

to be very proud of....and I am! I have a wonderful partner...

one who still can't keep his hands off of me (even though I act

annoyed most of the time...it is pretty darn cool), he supports

every decision I make. He treats me better than I deserve most

of the time (I can be hard to live with). I truly believe God

put him on this Earth for me.....because why else would he

of put up with me for 14 years. :)

Three = Happiness

I just adore families of three. Mom and Dad bursting with love and admiration for this little person that took them from a couple to a family.

I met this beautiful family on a gorgeous light filled morning. Their little guy....DARLING. He is such a happy guy, and he really loved his little wagon that he got to ride in from spot to spot :) Meeting them was the perfect start to my day.

I know I sound like a broken record....but I am a lucky lucky girl! I get to photograph some of the most beautiful families in St. Louis. :)
